HAVING A BETTER YEAR

27 December 2025  ·  1 min read  ·  0comments

A dear brother and I sat in his car about three years ago. He asked, “Pastor, what should my wife and I check on as we go into a new year? Do you have any suggestions?”

I said to him, “You should ask yourself two simple questions- Where did I go, and great value was added to me? Who did I meet, or which relationship added the greatest value to me? When you find the answers, then ask yourself what you can do to get greater value from that relationship or that place”.

The difference between two seasons is not always time; it is people. When God wants to help a man, he sends men. When the devil wants to wreck a life, he also sends men. You need the blessing of discernment to know men beyond the flesh.

If you are to choose by the flesh, you will likely join the camp of Saul instead of David. The flesh sees the glamour, discernment sees the glory (even when it is not yet visible). Meanwhile, Saul was in his fading days while David was in his rising season.

Beloved, sit down and ask yourself like God asked Balaam, “Who are these men with you?”

“God came to Balaam and asked, “Who are these men with you?”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭22‬:‭9‬ ‭ICB‬‬

If you journey with the doubting ten spies, your wilderness season becomes longer. If you find men like Caleb and Joshua, faith for impossible things will be planted in you.

Sit down. Ask questions! Ask the Lord for discernment. Make adjustments.
