WHEN THEY SAY “LET US FACE REALITY”

19 January 2026  ·  1 min read  ·  0comments

Just as we prepared for marriage, someone who I believe cared genuinely asked a question. He looked at me with a serious gaze and said, “What will your wife ever do that will make you leave her?”

I did not blink twice before I responded, “Sir, whatever can make Christ leave the church is what will make me leave my wife”. He froze for a moment at my answer. He said, “Pastor, I am not saying Bible now. Let us face reality”. I smiled and responded, “Sir, that is my reality”.

When men say, “Let us face reality”, most times they are saying that we should leave the Word aside and try to face the issues in the realm of “common sense”. They are saying to you most times that you will be foolish to follow what the Word of God has said.

If you are a child of God, the Word of God is your reality. You live by the Word. You are word made, and word sustained. You are a product of the word, and you are kept by the word.

Paul the Apostle told us clearly that “Christ is our reality”. The reality is found in Christ.

“…the reality, however, is found in Christ.”

Colossians 2:17 NIV

When they say let us face reality, ask them what their reality is. If the reality does not look like Christ and His Word, let them face it alone. Do not (I repeat), do not face it with them.

When you believe the Word, you are not in denial! You just have the truth that everything must align with!

Where is your reality?
